DescriptionI have been saving Dr. Doom's trophy wall for someone really special. If I had my choice I would have had Jack Kirby knock this one out, but God needed a penciller long before this theme came around. Jack was the originator, but his embellisher, inker and all around legendary partner Joe Sinnott is still with us and has every bit of skill that he had back when he introduced Dr. Doom to the world in FF #5.When I looked for someone to pencil this beauty, Ron Frenz was the name that kept popping up in my head. When Scott Kress of Catskill Comics announced he had an opening in his commission list I jumped at the chance, and Ron created something really wonderful in pencils for Joe to ink over and complete. Many thanks to Ron for taking the time and care to create something special. I knew that Joe Sinnott would be the perfect one to complete this piece. With the help of some very good friends and with the agreement and enthusiasm of Mr. Sinnott and his son Mark it all came together. I am really thrilled with the results. When you think about it, Joe inked Doom's first appearance it was a no brainer that I would want him to ink this trophy wall. Many thanks to Spencer Beck for his invaluable assistance and intervention (without which this would not have gotten done), to Mark Sinnott for his work and care, and to Scott Kress for all his legwork, his fine representation, and helping to bring this one to completion. So many people had a hand in getting this done I wanted to make sure they all got their due praise. That goes double for Joe himself who really made a dream come true by agreeing to do this for me. On to the piece: Dr. Doom in all his Latverian glory with the heads of the Fantastic Four mounted on his castle wall and it seems he has finally found the perfect use for H.E.R.B.I.E. Thanks for looking. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Social/Sharing |

Heh, I like how the Torch's head is still aflame. Another excellent addition.

Chris, this is simply (ok, not so simply) another jaw-dropper of an addition to your already amazing theme park o' art. Big congrats on adding a piece by Frenz and Sinnott, true legends in the field! Crikey!

You're correct Chris......Sinnott hasn't lost one bit of talent ! - I know it's Frenz's pencils, but you can see the Kirby influences.....Terrific piece !

This very well may be your best addition yet and my favorite! What a great Marvel Team-Up with Frenz and Sinnott! A reunion from their Thor days! Nice job all around.

The story of how this great piece was accomplished is as good as the piece itself. Thank you for sharing.

I love everything about the piece down to the details -- Herb's expression; the Doom family crest; the squared-off toes. Uh...one question: given where it's placed, what's inside that leather pouch on Doom's belt? Is that where he keeps Li'l Victor?
