DescriptionIn July of 1980, DC Comics Presents issue #26 came out (carried a cover date of October). It was an important issue – not for anything that has to do with Jim Starlin. More about that shortly. The reason it was important is that contained a 16 page preview of the New Teen Titans. At some point, I’ll write more about NTT, but I believe the Wolfman/Perez run is one of the more consequential DC runs in the last 40 years.

Gosh, your description brings back so many memories from my comic collecting days. Like everyone else back then, I was obsessed with Clarement & Byrne's X-Men. But there was a buzz going on about a "new" team book over at DC that was giving X-Men a run for their money. By the time I got into NTT, they were already a few issues in. I was so happy to be able to track down all the back issues including #1. But was disappointed to learn that it wasn't their first appearance. That's the first time I ever heard of DC Comics Presents #26. I had no idea what it was or what it looked like, but I pretty much spent all my time at every subsequent comic convention looking for a copy. Can't remember how many copies I ended up with over the years, but that cover image is pretty much ingrained in my mind. And you're right. Even though I was a huge Starlin fan, and I knew it was a Starlin cover, the only thing that mattered to me was that it was the first NTT appearance. But thanks for giving this Starlin run the love and respect it deserves. And congrats on scoring this cover. Stay safe buddy!

Great cover! Mongul looks like the Red Skull on this cover in black and white!

A wonderful Starlin cover featuring Mongul who was quite the villain for a time -- superb.

Such lightning in a bottle, this era for DC, this title for DC, Starlin's work during this time. It just all clicked in a big big way. Love this cover and those Mongul stories from that era.

I owned this for years (was the last owner before you Ron) and I simply love this cover for not only the reasons you stated but for my love of Starlin's cosmic art. Why did I sell? Well I am a Marvel collector and I simply ran out of money to buy Avengers art. My loss and your gain. So glad it went into a worthy collection who truley loves the art!

Always fun to see cover art for a comic you flipped through on a comic rack. I didn't buy this one but this cover gave me pause. I am sure a Marvel comic won the day but that doesn't take away from a great cover! Congrats!

Beautiful, one of Starlin's best from his early 80s DC covers.

A rare appearance of Kara where she was treated with respect.( Giffen also did her justice on her Legion appearances ) A powerful story.
