DescriptionThis is just such a great image of the Joker, I had to have it. The complete page 6 prelim is elsewhere on CAF, and it's great, but Brian clearly wanted to keep working on this panel, the first appearance by the Joker in the book. This image is much closer to the final product so was likely an in between step after working on the full prelim but before working on the final page. All of that aside, this is just a killer Joker image by the master! Only 5"x7" it is small and sweet.Social/Sharing |

If you had to own a prelim, this is the one. Makes a nice portrait you can hang on the wall!

Great example from Brian's iconic story! Look at that smile, that's the Joker we all love!

Yes, yes, the smile IS great; but it's the eyes that have it! Killer addition from a killer book! Congrats and thanks for sharing!

Like this stage of Bolland's Joker before he went in a more cartoony direction post-KJ. Congrats, nice piece!

A final 'lightbox sketch' by the look of it (just my opinion) as that's way too good to be just a prelim. Or is it just that its a Bolland!

It came to market and was sold with his other prelims and matches those small prelim pages. It's just a Bolland. :)

" killer Joker ", " killer Joke", " Killing Joke!"
Preliminary thought to final title. The logical progression!
Often times a preliminary drawing will actually be 'better' than the final because it is natural and flows, while the final is 'rendered.' The rendering process will remove a lot of the artist's spontaneity. This is awesome. Congratulations on owning this Brian Bolland gem.
