Description

A Hero's Death is a Kickstarter project by Ricardo Sanchez (writer) and Mark Texeira (artist). I really liked the premise and the character design so I pledged enough to get a copy with pencil sketch by Mark. Sadly, it didn't make.

Work didn't stop though. At the recent Dallas Fan Days (Oct 2013), I had a chance to talk to Mark about the book and the character. He had some painted pages with him and I got to see those as well.

He was doing sketches in his latest art book of "familiar" characters, but according to Renee W (his handler at the show) The Hero did not qualify. Because Mark wanted to do it, I managed to talk Renee into giving me two time slots for twice the money so that Mark could have the time needed. You can see that one in the additional images section.

That had to do until the second Kickstarter made its target and the book was published.

The second try made so the book was on the way.

However, it took a long time because Mark was painting it and he's not as fast that way. Still the updates were regular and Mark's easy to find on the con circuit. I caught him in Boston (2014) and Houston (2014) and got to see more pages.

Well, I got my copy today and it looks great. I'm very happy.
