DescriptionNew scan - The previous one was a B&W scan. This is 400dpi Grayscale. This is a commission that Nick Cardy did for me as my 50th birthday present to myself. I vaguely remember a Bat Lash image with him hanging on the end of a train with a woman in his arms. Nick took that description and created this image. I really love looking at it and it's reached the highest pinnacle of art in my house. Kathy allows it to hang in our den. It has also been the image on my computer's desktop for more than a year. Thanks for taking a look. Leave a comment and tell me what you think. PS. Nick Cardy is one of the friendliest people you will ever meet. He called to check up on the artwork and to be sure I liked it. We chatted for a quite awhile. This fanboy was thrilled. PPS, Carmine Infantino said in his book that Nick and Joe Kubert were the best of the Silver Age. They are certainly two of my favorites as you can see here and here. PPPS - This drawing was published in Rough Stuff 8 on page 7 in Bob McLeod's interview with Nick Cardy. The text next to it is from my letter to Bob. PPPPS - I found the preliminary drawing for this commission (pencil on vellum) on Anthony Snyder's site and decided to buy it. You can see it in the additional images. Social/Sharing |

I can see why it holds such an esteemed place in the Johnson household. Cardy really worked some magic on this commission.

Wonderful, wonderful, Alex! And atypical of most of his work that's out there, so it's as unique as it is masterfully done. Congrats!

Was the prelim high priced from Snyder or was his price accesible?

What a beautiful image - and how cool that you were able to reunite its prelim with it.
