DescriptionMy favorite Hulk stores are those that take the Hulk away from his battles with the US Army and his angry father-in-law. The farther away the better. For this reason, I really enjoyed the Plant Hulk saga by Greg Pak.But long before Greg spun his tale, Harlan Ellison (plot) and Roy Thomas (script) sent the Hulk to the heart of the atom - the planet of K'ai where he met and lost his true love - Jarella. Illustrated by Herb Trimpe, the Jarella stories made me a Hulk fan: I recently contacted Herb about a commission and discovered that these stories were among his favorites as well. We quickly converged on the following description of the commissioned piece - something based on Hulk 140, but not a cover recreation. Kathy - my ever loving wife - took it from there and for Christmas 2008, I got my piece. The Hulk seems to literally leap from the cover to protect his love. I love it (and my bride). I got to meet Herb a few times after the commission. He was a great guy. PS. The additional image is from the Grand Comicbook Database. Social/Sharing |

Fantastic commission. It's always great when you can get a piece of art that reminds you of the stories you really enjoyed in the past.
